Angel Cambero Named a 2027 ENR East Top Young Professional

Oct 27, 2026

From field engineer to regional leader, Angel has built a career grounded in technical experience, mentorship and service.

Angel Cambero, PE, MSI, has been named to Engineering News-Record’s 2027 ENR East Top Young Professionals list. Selected from more than 140 entries, Angel is one of 25 professionals under 40 recognized for industry experience, leadership and community service.

Angel’s path to this recognition began in Santiago, Dominican Republic, where he earned a civil engineering degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra and started his career on hospital, energy, wastewater and residential projects. After moving into the New York and New Jersey construction markets, he continued to broaden his experience — from structural design, inspections and materials testing to project management and regional operations.

Over the past 16 years, Angel has contributed to projects across buildings, transportation, aviation and marine infrastructure. His experience includes special inspections and field engineering at Central Park Tower, accessibility upgrades at numerous Metropolitan Transportation Authority stations, New York City bridge rehabilitation and construction-engineering support at the New Terminal One at John F. Kennedy International Airport. He has also led Atlas’ special inspections work on the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal redevelopment.

Today, Angel serves as Atlas’ Sector Lead, Technical Director and Director of Operations for New York and New Jersey, leading more than 200 engineering and construction professionals. His role spans technical quality, staffing, project delivery and client service, while drawing on the field experience that shaped his career. He is equally committed to helping others grow, mentoring technical staff and encouraging professional development. That interest in teaching extends beyond engineering to a longtime love of chess: a former instructor and collegiate tournament competitor in Santiago, Angel now volunteers to introduce the game to children and beginners.

“Angel is the kind of leader who makes everyone around him better,” said Tom Price, Atlas Infrastructure Business President. “His technical depth and sound judgment inspire confidence, but it is his generosity, collaborative spirit and commitment to helping others grow that truly set him apart. We could not be prouder to have Angel on the A-Team, and we are thrilled to celebrate this well-earned recognition with him.”

Angel’s commitment to service also includes volunteering with TECHO, a Latin American nonprofit that works alongside communities to improve housing conditions and expand opportunity.

Angel and his fellow 2027 honorees will be featured in the February 1, 2027 edition of ENR East and considered for ENR’s national Top 20 Under 40 recognition.

Congratulations, Angel, on this well-earned recognition!
