Building A Solar Facility in Georgia

The Snipesville Solar Field Project included installation of solar arrays on a cleared greenfield site of more than 1,000 acres located in southern Georgia. Atlas provided EPA-issued National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) compliance documents, proposed site grading to maximize efficiency of solar array layout, a hydraulic study of the drainage basin to determine extent of site ponding and stormwater impact, and permitted the entire project site for erosion and sediment control through the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) and Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), as the driveways were located on a state route. The services were provided to McCarthy Building Companies under an EPC contract with the Owner.

The project site included wetlands and stream buffers. The surrounding area was environmentally sensitive, so impacts to these locations were coordinated with the Georgia EPD during permitting. Atlas performed periodic site visits to verify conformance with the project documentation as well as state and federal guidelines. Other services included Site Layout and Grading Plan, Hydraulic Study, Erosion, Sediment & Pollution Control Plans, and Permitting.
